In November 2024, Cyber Crime continued to lead the Motivations chart with 72%, up from 68% of October. Operations driven by Cyber Espionage ranked at number two with 11% down from 13.3%, ahead of Cyber Warfare with 2.8% (down from 5,4%) and Hacktivism with 2% (down from 5.8%).
In November (as always), Malware led the Attack Techniques with 26.8% slightly up from 26.3%, once again followed by Ransomware with 13.4% (a light decline compared to 14.4% of October). And once again Targeted attacks ranked at number three with 12.2%, slightly up from 11.1%.
Once again Phishing Emails led the Initial Access vectors with 14.9%, slightly down from 19.2%, ahead of Supply Chain Compromises with 6.8% and the exploitation of Vulnerabilities in publicly exposed apps (4.4%).
The Distribution of Targets was led again by Multiple Organizations with 26% (it was 20.4%), ahead of Individuals with 10.2% (it was 11.1%), which swapped their positions with governments at 9.1% (it was 12.6% in October).
As always bear in mind that the sample refers exclusively to the attacks included in my timelines, available from public sources such as blogs and news sites. Obviously the sample cannot be complete, but only aims to provide an high level overview of the threat landscape.
