I am back from the Christmas break with the first timeline of October 2024, where I collected 120 events (8 events/day) with a threat landscape dominated by malware with 26.2%, ahead of ransomware with 12.3% and account takeovers with 11.5%.

However, a direct comparison with the previous timeline is not possibile since, as your probably noticed already, from this timeline I am starting to track the initial access vectors that in October H1 were dominated, when they were known, by phishing with 19.8%, ahead of the exploitation of vulnerabilities with 15.1%.

Cyber crime led the motivations chart with 71.1%, nearly ten points higher than the previous timeline, and once again ahead of cyber espionage(12.4%) down from 18.7%. Cyber warfare and hacktivism close the chart with 4.1% each

Multiple organizations led the targeted sectors with 22.3%, up from  18.1% (down from 19.4%,) once again ahead of government organizations (10%) and individuals (8.5%).

Besides these trends, as always the timeline is rich of interesting events, such as mega breaches (now the corresponding piost is updated with the events occurred in 2024) and attacks against organizations in the fintech space, so my final suggestion does not change: browse the timeline for the details of the events collected in this fortnight.
