And after the corresponding timelines (part I and part II), I can finally publish the statics for the month of July 2021. In this month I have collected a total of 186 events (6.2 events per day). A sharp decrease in comparison to the number achieved in June (211).

Once again, but this is no surprise, cyber crime leads the Motivations chart with 78.5%, considerably down from 85.8% of June. And similarly, it’s absolutely no surprise the fact that malware continues to lead the Attack Techniques chart with 40.3%, a value in line with June (40.8%). And the real value could be even higher since some malware-based attacks are filed as “Unknown” as the victims do not disclose enough information.

Attacks against multiple targets retaom the leadership of the Target Distribution chart with 23.1%, from 17.8% of June, and for the third month in a row, ahead of public administrations.

Check out the interactive charts and the statistics, also available as an infographic.

As always bear in mind that the sample refers exclusively to the attacks included in my timelines, available from public sources such as blogs and news sites. Obviously the sample cannot be complete, but only aims to provide an high level overview of the threat landscape.
